Senior Android Developer

We’re looking for a senior Android developer responsible for the development of a brand new greenfield application which will disrupt the Australian retail market.

Your primary focus will be the development of our new Android application and its integration with our back-end services. You will be working alongside some of the most talented iOS and back end developers in Australia.

Our office is located in Surry hills, 5 mins walk from central station. We’re a fun team of passionate people who love to solve problems together. Perks include flexible work hours, birthday leave, Mario Kart and we have a fridge full of beer and cold drinks.

This is a 3 month contract with the opportunity to extend.


  • Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code
  • Design, build, and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable Java and/or Kotlin code
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
  • Work closely with our senior iOS developer ensuring a similar experience on both platforms.


  • Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
  • Knowledge of Kotlin highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
  • Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers
  • Knowledge of ARcore highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
  • A knack for benchmarking and optimization
  • Understanding of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Familiarity with continuous integration
  • Proven track records of having published at least one original Android app
